My commitment to your safety
As I reopen my practice I wanted to update you on the new measures that will be in place to keep you safe when you come for treatment. The first thing is that it is safer for the moment to relocate to a dedicated clinic environment, which has worked to put measures in place to minimise exposure. Apart from the usual precautions I am now following new recommendations in line with government and British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) guidance.
Before the first session
I will email or send you this Statement of Practice and the BAcC Covid 19 Health Information and Consent Form. These should be emailed or sent back before the session if possible.
Arrival at the clinic
In order to avoid too many people gathering in the waiting area, please time your arrival for 2 or 3 minutes before your start time. There is a hand sanitiser unit as you come in.
Heightened Deep-Cleaning Process
I will be using disinfectant on frequently touched surfaces after each client visit. We have changed the towelling couch covers for PVC and we will be using (surprisingly comfortable) wipeable pillow cases in order to be able to safely clean these surfaces between clients. All rooms have a sophisticated air filtering system.
Between clients the practitioner will open the door and windows to clear the air in the room, disinfect any equipment used and wipe down the table, chair, treatment couch and door handles. The clinic will be cleaned and bins emptied every day at the end of the day. If we are advised that anyone with Covid 19 has accessed the clinic we will close the building and carry out a deep clean.
Personal Protective Equipment
For your safety I will wear fluid resistant face masks supplied by retailers recommended by the British Acupuncture Council, as well as a face visor. These retailers are not in competition with NHS supply routes. My clinic clothes will be washed after every session as will any towels or sheets used during your visit. I will wash my hands frequently in order to avoid the necessity of the wearing of gloves.
In order to avoid excessive laundry we will only be providing one towel/sheet per person. If you would like more covering please bring your own sheet or blanket.
Pre-session information and tongue pictures
Clients will need to complete an email questionnaire well before the first treatment, including tongue photos by Whatsapp. This means I can look at your case and work out the best treatment for you. Follow up sessions will involve an online check prior to treatment in order to keep time in the session focussed on your treatment.
In the email pre-session I will
• Ask you to complete a BAcC Covid Consent Form to sign and email back or bring to the appointment
• Ask about your current health issues as well as general life and health questions, including any results or reports you may have received, or issues arising since I last saw you (after the first session)
• Look at your tongue – I will ask you to take some pictures and send them to me, preferably by Whatsapp
• Plan your acupuncture treatment
Your acupuncture appointment
• Contact me if anything has changed from the day before
• Aim to arrive at the time of your appointment
• Arrive wearing a mask and keep it on throughout your appointment
• Wear clothes that minimise the need to get undressed
• Bring your own towel if you would like to
• Bring your consent form if you haven’t emailed it
Please bring your own drinking water. Please also make sure to practice social distancing when in shared spaces like the waiting room.
Don’t come in if…
If you or any member of your family, have a cough, fever, or symptoms of COVID-19, please do not come to the clinic until you’re symptom-free for seven days. Follow government guidelines with regard to attendance.
A full refund will be given if you have Covid and we will reschedule as soon as is possible. Feel free to call if you are unsure.
Otherwise 24 hours notice must be given for any cancellations or the full fee will be charged.
After the treatment
If you develop symptoms of Covid-19 within 2 days of acupuncture treatment, please inform the practitioner immediately.
And finally...
We understand that all these new measures might seem over-fussy, but we believe that once you start your treatment you’ll find yourself back in a familiar, relaxing place with a sense of safety.
Thank you for your understanding.
